In February 2007 I qualified as a birth doula obtaining a diploma with Paramanadoula, taught by the world-renowned perinatal expert and author Dr Michel Odent and Liliana Lamis. I have spent the last few year practising as a trainee doula and have now attended five births.
I have experience in home births, hospital births, inductions, ventouse delivery and c-sections. I have attended births at Chelsea and Westminter and St Georges hospitals.
My doula package supports the mother and partner through the whole birth experience. It will include 2-3 visits during pregnancy (one should be with the father) and 1 after the birth of your baby plus email and telephone contact when needed. I will support you continuously through the labour and birth until you are comfortable and your baby is safely in your arms.
Postnatally, I will be there to help you settle into motherhood, help with any breastfeeding issues that arise and do my best to support you through these often wonderful sometimes challenging first two weeks.

"Doula" (pronounced "doola") is a Greek word meaning "woman servant or caregiver". It now refers to an experienced woman who offers emotional and practical support to a woman (or couple) before, during and after childbirth.
She is there to mother the mother and help facilitate a positive birth experience.
Research has shown again and again that having a doula present at a birth:
Shortens first-time labour by an average of 2 hours.
Decreases the chance of caesarean section by 50%.
Decreases the need for pain medication.
Helps fathers participate with confidence.
Increases success in breastfeeding.
